The Hovercraft - The Villains Getaway Vehicle
Learn How Air Generates Movement
An old CD
Balloon (the bigger the better)
Lid from a squeeze water bottle
Paint your CD. While the CD is drying, you can draw the villains face. We recommend doing this when the balloon is blown up. This way the face is nice and dark. Another learning point to do with the kids here is to attempt drawing the face both ways - once in blown up state and once in deflated state. Discuss the difference and why.
Using your hot glue, you can secure the bottle lid to the centre of the CD over the hole. Then you will wrap and glue the pipe cleaners around the lid making it appear like scary arms.
Blow up your balloon, then attach it over the squeeze lid (while it is closed). Then open the lid, give the hovercraft a gentle push and watch as the air leaving the balloon moves the hovercraft.
Make sure to capture an image of your craft using the Artebula App, this way you can document all your science experiments in your digital portfolio.
Don't forget parents, all this learning may come with piles of artwork! But the Artebula App was designed to solve that problem without guilt. You can download it for free from the Google Play Store and the App Store.
